An Introduction to The Slots
Slots are possibly the most famous games to bet on at casinos. On any given night, expect most of the slot machines to be packed with eager gamblers. They appear in a variety of wagering levels; a few only cost $.05 a spin while others can cost as much as $20 a spin. Although slots are a betting tool, many people are intimidated by the high-dollar card tables and like the entertainment and exhilaration of a great one arm bandit.
The initial slot machine was built in Eighteen Ninety Five and was called the "Liberty Bell." Created by a California machinist, the first slot games had 3 reels with a cracked Liberty Bell, diamonds, hearts, and spades affixed on each. Prior to this invention, the term "slot machines" was used to describe several types of vending machines.
The initial across the board use of slot games in US casinos is credited to the Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas in and around the 40’s. The head of the casino had initially thought the slot machines would be awesome to captivate apathetic wives of a few of the largest whales of the betting house. Little did he know that the slots would be a fun activity for almost everyone and that the allure would extend further than the bored wives. Today, it is said, slot machine games comprise over two-thirds of all revenue brought in by U.S. betting houses.
The slots absolutely have a rich history. From the little invention of the late-1800’s to the multi-million dollar business of today, slot machines will continue to expand in popularity.
